Milestones Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy Consultant

Location: UK-Based (Remote with Occasional In-Person Opportunities)

Job Type: Consultancy Basis

Role Overview

Milestones is looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy Consultant to join our team on a consultancy basis. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply committed to the well-being and mental health of young people and aligns with Milestones’ mission to help students achieve their most ambitious academic and career goals, while also supporting their emotional and psychological growth.

The consultant will work with students requiring support, collaborate with educational managers, and contribute to the overall well-being strategy for students and families. Additionally, the consultant will help create content, design events and workshops, and engage in proactive, innovative approaches to student development.

Milestones Mission and Philosophy

At Milestones, we empower students to achieve a fulfilling educational journey and future career by removing barriers to learning and personal growth. We combine neurocognitive strategies with holistic support to ensure our students thrive academically, emotionally, and personally. We are seeking a consultant who aligns with our mission and is excited about contributing to the well-being and mental health aspects of our approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultancy Services for Students:
  • Provide child and adolescent psychotherapy services for students who need support, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, emotional regulation, and other mental health concerns that may affect learning and personal development.
  • Collaboration with Educational Managers:
  • Work closely with educational managers to review students who may require additional mental health support. Offer strategies and interventions to help these students overcome emotional challenges that impact their educational progress.
  • Contribution to Well-Being Strategy:
  • Assist in developing Milestones’ overarching well-being strategy, ensuring that mental health and emotional well-being are fully integrated into our programmes and services. This includes offering guidance and resources to students and families.
  • Content Creation:
  • Contribute to the creation of well-being resources for students, parents, and the wider Milestones community. This could include creating educational materials, blogs, videos, or interactive content that promotes emotional resilience and mental health awareness.
  • Workshops and Events:
  • Design and lead events and workshops focused on well-being, mental health, and emotional development for students and their families. These workshops will serve as platforms for engaging with the Milestones community, providing proactive mental health support, and promoting emotional growth.
  • Proactive and Forward-Thinking Approach:
  • Engage in proactive initiatives to identify and address potential mental health challenges early, supporting students in maintaining their well-being and ensuring they have the tools to succeed both academically and personally.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist with relevant professional certifications and memberships (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC, etc.).
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or therapeutic setting, preferably with a focus on academic and personal development.
  • Strong understanding of mental health challenges affecting young people, particularly in high-pressure educational environments.
  • Passionate about well-being, mental health, and personal growth, with a commitment to Milestones’ mission of holistic education and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create content that resonates with students, families, and educators.
  • Able to work collaboratively with educational teams to provide mental health insights and strategies.
  • A forward-thinking and proactive approach to addressing mental health concerns, with the ability to design innovative well-being initiatives.

Preferred:

  • Experience in content creation and educational resource development, with the ability to produce engaging materials that promote mental health and well-being.
  • Previous experience conducting workshops, webinars, or group therapy sessions for students or families.
  • Knowledge of neurocognitive strategies and how they can be integrated with mental health practices to support holistic student development.

What We Offer

  • Flexibility: Consultancy-based role, allowing you to work on a project-by-project basis with flexibility around hours.
  • Long-term involvement: Opportunity to shape and contribute to Milestones’ well-being strategy and to be involved in our growth as an educational leader.
  • Creative freedom: You’ll have the chance to design workshops and create resources that align with your passions and expertise.
