Quality and Systems Manager

We have a opportunity for a Quality and Systems Manager to join the Stepnell team. Are you passionate about Systems, Quality and continually improving the way we operate whilst efficiently managing our risks?


With the support of a Systems Coordinator, we seek someone who will lead the embedding, external standards compliance and continued improvement of our business systems through feedback, support and engagement with our teams.


Reporting to our Regional Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Support & Management: Will advise and support our teams on all our system compliance as part of the business risk management.
  • Compliance: Will take responsibility for Stepnell’s compliance to relevant Management systems and accreditations.
  • Leadership: Will provide active visible leadership for all Systems and quality matters and lead by example. Will lead all external audits and support our teams through the audits.
  • Technical Expertise: Will have excellent knowledge of SHEQ Legislation, fully understand ISO, NQA & Achilles standards, have full knowledge and experience of effective quality management, and have practical operational experience with the ability to liaise with all internal and external stakeholders - at all organisational levels.
  • Communication: Will foster effective communication within the business to embed and improve our systems and quality compliance.
  • Training & Development: Will upskill and train our teams on the business systems.
  • Sharing of Best Practice: Proactively promotes and shares Best Practice within the business in respect of processes and how we do things.
  • Continuous Improvement: Will propose and implement new ideas to enhance efficiency ensuring we stay ahead of our competition and continually meet our clients expectations of Standards being required to procure.
  • Teamwork: Will be able to operate effectively as part of the SHEQ and wider Team.
  • Legislation & External Certification Compliance: Will know about Construction Legislation including the Building Safety Act, Stepnell's relevant NQA Standards & Achilles requirements.
  • Reporting: Will provide reports to the board to evidence the effectiveness of our Systems and Quality Management procedures.
  • Site Visits: Will visit our projects across all regions regularly to verify compliance, and support embedding/development of our Systems / Quality Procedures.
  • Impact: Make a significant contribution to our SHEQ operation and help support the development of our teams and exciting projects.


The ideal candidate:

  • Should be a well-rounded professional with technical skills, leadership abilities, and industry-construction knowledge.
  • Able to drive quality initiatives, ensure compliance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within our business
  • Have an internal auditing qualification but not essential.


Ideally, this role will be based from our head office in Rugby. Still, we may also consider candidates close to the following offices: Nottingham, Wantage, Bristol, and Southampton. You will be required to travel throughout our regional offices and sites.
