JOB SUMMARY


A competent Mechanical Design Engineer and Project Manager; capable of innovative design and attention to detail in a motivated design team and delivering project plans and objectives.


KEY DUTIES


  • 3D CAD (Inventor) based mechanical design of cost effective, innovative, reliable, stylish and robust audio products.


  • Industrial Design of professional audio products.


  • Project Management of disparate R&D activities


  • Material design process in sheet metal, extrusions, injection mouldings.


  • Cost engineering forecasting/budgeting.


  • 2D CAD (Adobe Suite) artworks and conceptual layout.


  • Design For Manufacture - innovative assembly, fixing with high tolerance control.


  • Accomplish project objectives by planning project activities


  • Evaluating implementation and progress of project.


  • Create and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.


  • Environmental and mechanical integrity prototype and final design evaluation.


  • Liaison with electronic and software design team.


  • Liaison with production engineering and technical support teams.


  • Generation and analysis of Bill of Materials.


  • Liaison with suppliers.



QUALIFICATIONS


HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.


Or a Degree in Product/Industrial design if the candidate is particularly and naturally strong in mechanical design.


3 years Design experience in industry.


Desirable:


Experience of sheet metal fabricated, plastic moulded products, 3D CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor or similar).


Experience of industrial product design of professional and highly styled products.


Experience of design for manufacture for cost sensitive and quick time to market products.


Or a fresh graduate with exceptional skills in mechanical engineering with very strong project and work experience



DISPOSITION


Enjoy team environment, good communication skills with design/production teams and suppliers in the UK and off-shore. Focussed on meeting deadlines.
