A business based in York are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a maternity cover contract basis with a September or October start. This is an excellent opportunity to join a Finance Team, which has a great culture, to expand your skill sets and learn further. The successful applicant will receive a salary of up to £26,000, as well as 33 days holiday (including bank holidays, plus extra days off at Christmas), attractive, Monday to Friday working hours (which can be flexible), very generous pension scheme and further.
Although this is not a traditional temp-to-perm role, permanent opportunities may arise in the business that this individual could be considered for. Ideally this role will be for 9-12 months, potentially further.
As the Finance Assistant you will work as part of the Finance Team, primarily focussing on financial administration for the business, your key responsibilities will include:
Responsibility for the billing ledger, ensuring up to date information is held
Debt collection of outstanding fees
Processing of Direct Debits and updating the recurring payment schedules
Assisting with invoice posting on the purchase ledger
Dealing with day to day queries from suppliers, debtors, budget holders and other staff
Processing staff expenses claims and business credit card transactions
Maintaining filing systems including annual archiving of financial records, scanning, disposal and rotation
Assisting with month end procedures
Keeping accurate data and financial records for all income and expenditure
Assisting in financial year end procedures as directed by the Director of Finance
Other duties as requiredTo be successful in this Finance Assistant role, you will ideally have/be:
Working knowledge and experience of accountancy software such Sage, Quickbooks or Xero, as well as MS Excel
Experience in AR and AP processing and credit control or strong administration skills, paired with good IT and MS Excel knowledgeThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a new opportunity, who ideally has some exposure to a similar role already. You may currently be a Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk, Sales Ledger Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, Credit Controller, Assistant Accountant or Finance Officer who is looking for a new challenge. You might also be a strong Administrator, Office Manager or finance Admin who has excellent IT and MS Excel skills. This role would also be ideal for somebody who is currently studying or is AAT qualified (or equivalent study/experience).
Based in York, this role is commutable from the North side of York - Clifton, Rawcliffe, Poppleton, Acomb and York City Centre. This role is also accessible via public transport, being in walk distance from the train station. There is also free parking available.
