Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the International Sonobuoys Programmes Director, Sonobuoys System Design Authority, and Sonobuoys Project Manager.
* Oversee engineering activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
* Lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop solutions that meet requirements and are fit for purpose.
* Manage new product development, in-service support, and existing production products.
* Ensure engineering solutions align with project requirements and objectives.
* Maintain and improve engineering processes and practices within the team.
* Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues that arise.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
You will need:
* Experience in managing large, multi-disciplinary teams.
* Proficiency in engineering estimation, including reviewing, challenging, and defending estimates.
* Expertise in creating Work Breakdown Structures and defining delivery strategies.
* Skilled in producing comprehensive engineering plans, identifying and managing dependencies, assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
* Understanding of project design gates from bid to full-scale production readiness review.
* Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of software and systems engineering.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
