Overview
We are seeking an organized, supportive, and committed Production Team Lead to assist with the coordination of work activities and resources for switchgear manufacturing in the workshop. Your role will involve ensuring that quality, safety, and efficiency are consistently maintained.
Your Role
As a Production Team Lead, you will be responsible for the operation of an allocated area within the Manufacturing department. Supporting the Workshop Supervisor, you will manage day-to-day workshop activities while also working as part of the team on the shop floor. Your duties will include ensuring product specifications, deadlines, and quality standards are met.
You will oversee and coordinate a team of fitter/wiremen, ensuring adherence to company policies and health and safety regulations. Your role involves managing the team's workloads, providing support to ensure delivery, monitoring issues, and ensuring production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are achieved.
As the primary point of contact for team members, excellent communication skills are essential. You should act proactively to ensure smooth and safe operations, promptly identifying and resolving any safety, quality, or production issues. You will also embed lean management principles in your area, reducing waste and enhancing business value through process improvements.
In addition to setting team workloads and training staff, you will ensure that employees work towards company goals and objectives. You'll support team development by focusing on individual performance, fostering a safe working culture, and maintaining high standards.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Workshop Supervisor in planning workloads and delegating tasks to the production team.
Foster a productive, efficient work environment using trust and appropriate strategies.
Serve as a Lean Champion, ensuring workplace organization and continuous improvement.
Identify training needs and provide guidance to develop a skilled workforce.
Communicate goals and deadlines to team members, addressing any concerns.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Complete production paperwork accurately and within deadlines.
Maintain a clean and organized workshop in line with company standards.
Lead by example, ensuring adherence to procedures and promoting a strong safety culture.

Skills and Experience:
Experience working within an engineering workshop.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and tools.
Understanding of production costs, including waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and lead by example.
Solid understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of poor quality.
Interpersonal skills for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Attention to detail and ability to manage training for team members.
Responsible, reliable, and approachable with a flexible, positive attitude.
Full UK Driving License required.
