The role will have considerable autonomy to mould and make the role your own and offers the opportunity to have a strategic input into the overall material / supply chain but will also require hands on tactical involvement supporting our mix of engineered products into a growing market.
As Materials & Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for direct procurement (mechanical / electro-mechanical commodities), and indirect as well as material control through to stores / inventory.
Key accountabilities for Materials & Purchasing Manager will include:
Responsibility for purchasing / procurement activities – both direct and indirect (Machined items, sheet metal, electrical and electronic as well as indirect)
Coordination with manufacturing to ensure material systems are properly maintained and the ERP system is accurate and fully utilised.
Supplier development /management - sourcing new suppliers and developing and building strong relationships with existing suppliers
Control of Company inventory levels to ensure overall target stock turns are achieved.
Overall responsibility for shipping and stores through direct reports
Work with senior managers and other personnel to support ongoing projects
The role will suit a dynamic individual either with experience of undertaking a varied role spanning both purchasing and material control. 
You may be an experienced Senior Buyer or have materials management background with direct buying / purchasing experience looking for a step up or will equally suit a purchasing manager with sound material / inventory acumen looking for an exciting new role.
You will need to have proven electro-mechanical purchasing experience gained within a manufacturing or production / engineering environment.
You will also have Materials / supply chain experience gained within a manufacturing environment coupled with good commercial acumen.
Experience using an ERP/MRP system or SAP
