Position overview:


As part of the EU & Africa JIT and Structures AME team, the Senior AME Engineer is tasked with supporting the execution of multiple regional projects to defined standards in accordance with Lear’s AME Roadmap. The Senior AME Engineer may work on a variety of projects tasked with implementing automated solutions into Lear JIT, Trim or Structures facilities. The Senior AME provides SME knowledge within a particular AME domain. Reporting to the Senior AME Manager, this position plays a leading role within the AME team tasked with overseeing the Lear’s transition to automated solutions within EU&AF plants. Additional tasks performed by the Senior AME Engineer include defining the timing and execution plan into any given facility, flagging any risks or budget deviations to senior management, devising solutions to ensure minimal downtime or operational disruption during execution. The AME Senior Engineer plays a key role in the assessment of supplier capabilities through the tender and equipment supply chain process, creating work instructions and ensuring project implementation is conducted to Lear standards and delivered in accordance with project timing milestones.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Works in close collaboration with Leadership teams from Central AME, Operations and Program Management
  • Develops robust business cases from a technical / cost perspective prior to presentation to Senior Management
  • Coaches regional team members and shares knowledge of technology domains within area of expertise
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and local policies and procedures
  • Strives to be at the forefront of technological advancements within their domain
  • Participates in discussions with key stakeholders in relation to project feasibility, strategic implementation planning, cost and timing of AME projects


Key skills and Qualifications:


  • University Degree ascertained in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or comparable discipline
  • 5+ years’ work experience in a related field or position
  • Fluency in English language both written and verbal
  • Project management experience with project budget control.
  • Experience of working in the deployment of AME projects across multiple countries / facilities
  • Understanding of CE certification requirements.



  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Expert knowledge in at least one of the following fields : welding, maintenance, robotics, automation, EOL systems, project management
  • Experience in supporting execution of multiple advanced manufacturing projects into operational environment
  • Strong analytical skills / problem solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience of critically assessing business case proposals linked to ROI
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of ergonomic requirements with ability to provide solutions to problems
  • Showcases expert understanding of LEAR associated AME Controls / IT systems
  • Demonstrated experience of presenting to regional leaders
  • Expert level of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role.
  • Ensures a safe working environment, follow, support, and maintain working practices, comply with all relevant HSE legislation and local policies and procedures.
