Role Summary:


We are looking to hire an enthusiastic senior Power Electronics Engineer for our R&D department.

The key responsibilities of this role are to design, develop and implement power electronics and auxiliary circuits.

This includes all technical disciplines required to deliver these circuits including component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulations, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with consideration for manufacturing requirements.

The role requires working as part of a larger team on significant projects or taking on smaller design challenges independently as and when required.


The successful candidate will join a multi-skilled team in a fast-paced environment meaning development opportunities are always available.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To be successful in this role you will be required to have a solid understanding of power electronics.
  • You will be required to create new designs and new product specifications, including critical power components.
  • You will design and develop analogue, digital, and electronic circuits, and systems for power electronics. To implement designs, which meet agreed functional design requirements and conform to international EMC and Safety requirements and regulations.
  • You will participate in product design reviews.
  • Interface with external suppliers whilst working to agreed timescales & project plans.
  • Ensuring daily interaction with engineers from multiple disciplines to ensure solutions are a good fit with the drive architecture.
  • Preparing concise and clear technical documentation and reports. As well as presenting, discussing, and justifying design concepts and ideas.
  • You will contribute to technical design reviews, constructively critique, and challenge others’ designs. While guiding and supporting other Development Engineers
  • Managing and facilitating type test meetings plus developing test equipment.



Required Qualifications/Experience:



  • Master’s Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
  • Have an awareness and desire to explore emerging technology in the field, innovating ways to incorporate that into designs and products.
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Must understand power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
  • Experience using simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice or Mathlab Simulink simulators)
  • Ability to build prototypes, experiment on systems and bench tests.
  • Have a working knowledge of planning tools and be able to apply planning theories to their work.
  • Willingness to help plan sections of projects
