About the role:

As a Service Department, the main function is to maintain and support gas powered generation plants, whether that is Power Generation only, Combined Heat & Power or Tri-generation. We have the technical expertise to support the complete Jenbacher gas engine product portfolio and associated balance of plant. We maintain and promote long term customer relationships through our flexible commercial agreements.

The main purpose of this role is to manage and develop the Clarke Energy Commissioning and Field Service Support function by managing our Field Service Support and Commissioning Engineers, providing commissioning support and planning to project managers and providing Field Service support.

The role:

  • Manage Clarke Energy Support and Commissioning Engineers.
  • Create commissioning plans set out by the contractual scope of commissioning to form part of the project planning, highlighting all key milestones and labour requirement for the duration of the commissioning.
  • Ensure high standards of commissioning are maintained ensuring adherence to UK and local gas and electrical regulations, health and safety and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with Projects department to ensure planned and efficient use of resource to commission Clarke Energy installations, recording and informing relevant parties of support and commissioning resource.
  • Ensure that all commissioning documentation is accurately compiled and promptly submitted to the document control team.
  • Take the lead in resolving and improving INNIO Jenbacher or other suppliers’ issues related to the commissioning scope.
  • Liaise with the Engineering and Project departments to improve installation designs to aid commissioning and service activities.
  • Manage cover where required for the Global Service Helpdesk through communication with the Technical Helpdesk Engineers.
  • Ensure that sufficient engineer support is provided to the Field Service areas when and where required.
  • Complete administrative tasks to a high standard including but not limited to timesheets, service software job reports & holiday allocation.
  • Develop the National Commissioning and Support Engineer role with current and new technologies to suit a developing business. Including setting out required processes, qualification, training and tooling needs prior to any commissioning activities.
  • Ensure that high level technical information associated with commissioning and commissioning engineers is communicated between the team and well documented.
  • Provide technical and management support to the Product Support Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, Area Service Managers, Project Managers and CM&U team, ensuring that all parties are kept fully informed in a timely and appropriate manner of commissioning activities.
  • Attend, lead and action pre-commissioning meetings and project lessons learnt meetings with the project team and Commissioning and Support Engineers.
  • Ensure that commissioning related continuous improvement reports are submitted, tracked and accurately detailed.
  • Provide suitable processes and procedures for all commissioning activities.
  • Assist the High Voltage Authorising Engineer, Product Support Manager and Project Commissioning Manager to manage company High Voltage safe systems of work.
  • Carry out accurate record keeping and produce Support and Commissioning KPI’s.


Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills


  • Technical apprenticeship or minimum HNC with appropriate experience.
  • Field service/Commissioning Engineer trained.
  • Power Generation product knowledge.
  • CHP Knowledge.
  • Project Management ability.
  • Boiler operation awareness.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent IT Skills.

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of reciprocating engines and power generation.
  • In-depth knowledge of power generation commissioning.
  • Good knowledge of CHP, Capacity Market & Biogas power generation processes.
  • A good understanding of the required processes for power generation commissioning lifecycle.
  • Awareness of High and Low Voltage Safety rules.
  • Ability to implement sound engineering practice.
  • Ability to analyse data sets provided by power generation control or Scada systems.
  • Knowledge of bus communication protocols.
  • Good customer relationship experience.
  • Knowledge of Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health legislation and requirements.
  • Excellent IT Skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Good technical report writing skills.


Desirable

  • Jenbacher Commissioning engineer trained.
  • BEng or HNC in Engineering or similar qualification.
  • Commissioning management experience.



This is a full time permanent position, based Nationwide with extensive travel required.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 40 hours with paid overtime.
