Role Responsibilities:

The Service Department's primary objective is to sustain and support gas-powered generation facilities, including Power Generation, Combined Heat & Power, and Tri-generation systems. We possess the technical proficiency to support the entire Jenbacher gas engine product range and related balance of plant. Our focus is on nurturing long-term customer relationships through adaptable commercial agreements.

The core responsibility of this position is to oversee and enhance the Clarke Energy Commissioning and Field Service Support division by managing our team of Field Service Support and Commissioning Engineers, offering commissioning assistance, and coordinating with project managers.

Key Duties:

  • Supervise Clarke Energy Support and Commissioning Engineers.
  • Develop commissioning plans aligned with contractual obligations, detailing key milestones and labor requirements throughout the commissioning process.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and local gas and electrical regulations, as well as health, safety, and environmental standards during commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Projects department to optimize resource allocation for commissioning Clarke Energy installations, documenting and communicating resource needs.
  • Accurately compile and submit all commissioning documentation to the document control team in a timely manner.
  • Lead efforts to address and resolve issues related to the commissioning scope from INNIO Jenbacher or other suppliers.
  • Work with Engineering and Project departments to enhance installation designs that facilitate commissioning and service operations.
  • Provide coverage for the Global Service Helpdesk as needed, coordinating with Technical Helpdesk Engineers.
  • Ensure adequate engineer support is available for Field Service operations as required.
  • Complete administrative tasks with precision, including timesheets, service software job reports, and holiday management.
  • Advance the National Commissioning and Support Engineer role by integrating current and emerging technologies to meet business needs, including establishing necessary processes, qualifications, training, and tooling requirements.
  • Facilitate effective communication of high-level technical information related to commissioning among team members and ensure proper documentation.
  • Offer technical and managerial support to the Product Support Manager.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, Area Service Managers, Project Managers, and the CM&U team, ensuring timely updates on commissioning activities.
  • Lead pre-commissioning meetings and project lessons learned sessions with the project team and Commissioning and Support Engineers.
  • Submit, track, and detail continuous improvement reports related to commissioning activities.
  • Establish suitable processes and procedures for all commissioning tasks.
  • Assist the High Voltage Authorising Engineer, Product Support Manager, and Project Commissioning Manager in managing the company's High Voltage safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records and generate Support and Commissioning KPIs.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical apprenticeship or a minimum of HNC with relevant experience.
  • Trained as a Field Service/Commissioning Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Power Generation products.
  • Understanding of Combined Heat and Power systems.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Awareness of boiler operations.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Proficient IT skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of reciprocating engines and power generation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of power generation commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with CHP, Capacity Market, and Biogas power generation methods.
  • Thorough understanding of the power generation commissioning lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of High and Low Voltage safety regulations.
  • Capability to implement sound engineering practices.
  • Ability to analyze data from power generation control or SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with bus communication protocols.
  • Strong customer relationship management experience.
  • Knowledge of Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Health regulations and requirements.
  • Proficient in IT applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical report writing skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Trained as a Jenbacher Commissioning Engineer.
  • BEng or HNC in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in commissioning management.

This is a full-time permanent position requiring extensive travel. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, with opportunities for paid overtime.
