Role Summary:

The Service Department's primary objective is to maintain and support gas-powered generation facilities, whether for Power Generation, Combined Heat & Power, or Tri-generation systems. We possess the technical proficiency to support the entire Jenbacher gas engine product range and related balance of plant. Our commitment to fostering long-term customer relationships is upheld through flexible commercial agreements.

The key focus of this position is to oversee and enhance the Clarke Energy Commissioning and Field Service Support function by managing our Field Service Support and Commissioning Engineers, delivering commissioning assistance, and coordinating with project managers to provide Field Service support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Clarke Energy Support and Commissioning Engineers.
  • Develop commissioning plans based on contractual obligations to integrate into project planning, identifying key milestones and labor requirements throughout the commissioning phase.
  • Maintain high standards of commissioning, ensuring compliance with UK and local gas and electrical regulations, health and safety, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with the Projects department to ensure efficient resource allocation for commissioning Clarke Energy installations, documenting and communicating relevant support and commissioning resources.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation is accurately compiled and submitted promptly to the document control team.
  • Lead efforts to resolve and enhance issues related to the commissioning scope with INNIO Jenbacher or other suppliers.
  • Work with Engineering and Project departments to refine installation designs to facilitate commissioning and service operations.
  • Manage coverage for the Global Service Helpdesk through effective communication with Technical Helpdesk Engineers.
  • Guarantee adequate engineer support is available for Field Service areas as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks to a high standard, including timesheets, service software job reports, and holiday allocations.
  • Advance the National Commissioning and Support Engineer role with current and emerging technologies to align with business development, including establishing necessary processes, qualifications, training, and tooling requirements prior to commissioning activities.
  • Ensure effective communication of high-level technical information related to commissioning and commissioning engineers within the team, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to the Product Support Manager.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, Area Service Managers, Project Managers, and the CM&U team, ensuring timely and appropriate updates on commissioning activities.
  • Facilitate and lead pre-commissioning meetings and project lessons learned sessions with the project team and Commissioning and Support Engineers.
  • Submit, track, and detail commissioning-related continuous improvement reports accurately.
  • Establish suitable processes and procedures for all commissioning activities.
  • Assist the High Voltage Authorising Engineer, Product Support Manager, and Project Commissioning Manager in managing the company's High Voltage safe systems of work.
  • Maintain accurate records and generate Support and Commissioning KPIs.

Required Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical apprenticeship or minimum HNC with relevant experience.
  • Trained as a Field Service/Commissioning Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Power Generation products.
  • Understanding of CHP systems.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Awareness of boiler operations.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Proficient IT skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of reciprocating engines and power generation.
  • Thorough understanding of power generation commissioning processes.
  • Good grasp of CHP, Capacity Market, and Biogas power generation processes.
  • Solid understanding of the power generation commissioning lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with High and Low Voltage Safety regulations.
  • Ability to implement sound engineering practices.
  • Capability to analyze data sets from power generation control or SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of bus communication protocols.
  • Strong customer relationship management experience.
  • Understanding of Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Health legislation and requirements.
  • Excellent IT skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient technical report writing skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Trained as a Jenbacher Commissioning Engineer.
  • BEng or HNC in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in commissioning management.

This is a full-time permanent position requiring extensive travel.

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours, with paid overtime.
