Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant with experience in Purchase Ledger to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of the company, particularly in managing purchase ledger activities. They will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and providing general administrative support to the finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Ledger Management:

Process purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
*
Ensure all invoices are appropriately coded, approved, and entered onto the accounting system.
*
Reconcile supplier statements with purchase ledger records to ensure accuracy.
*
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
Accounts Payable:
*
Prepare and process payment runs, including electronic payments and cheque payments.
*
Monitor payment deadlines and ensure timely payments to suppliers.
*
Handle inquiries from suppliers regarding payment status or discrepancies.
General Ledger Support:
*
Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
*
Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
*
Support the finance team in various ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.
Administrative Duties:
*
Provide administrative support to the finance department, such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
*
Assist with the maintenance of financial spreadsheets and reports.
*
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information and documentation.
*
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations. Assist with the preparation of financial reports and audits as required.
Qualifications and Skills:

Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in accounts payable and purchase ledger functions.
*
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) and MS Excel.
*
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
*
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
*
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
*
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
*
Knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of basic financial concepts.
*
Relevant qualifications in accounting or finance would be advantageous.
