Putting inclusion at the heart of counter-terrorism policing

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) keeps the nation and everyone in it safe from all manner of threats. As those threats evolve, so do we. Take on the first role of its kind within CTP, and you’ll be developing the workplace culture and practices, within an organisation dedicated to protecting the public and our national security.

Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (IDE) is the key to supporting our greatest asset – our people.
Our people protect our national security, officers, and staff, in all areas of our organisation and the wider CTP network. To deliver operational excellence for the public, we must operate excellently for our people. So, your role will see you develop a work environment that can continue to adapt to the UK’s changing threat landscape.

We’ll look to you to coordinate and manage all activity around IDE and provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues. You’ll ensure our compliance with Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and wider Equality Act 2010 legislative practices, and you’ll also establish a CTPHQ practice bank for IDE including templates, policy guidance and upskilling briefings. In addition, you’ll progress our internal ‘Inclusion Maturity Measurement’, driving business improvements at each stage of the colleague lifecycle model to position us as an inclusive employer of choice.

Your work experience to date will have seen you develop advanced skills in stakeholder engagement, critical thinking, and project management. You’ll also have a good understanding of data sets, the ability to reprioritise according to changing demands and a talent for engaging audiences on challenging topics.

In return, you can look forward to benefits including substantial annual leave, Civil Service pension arrangements, interest free season ticket loans, flexible working conditions and more.

Key Tasks

The jobholder will be required to

  • Coordinate and manage all CTPHQ activity regarding Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (IDE).
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to all colleagues within CTPHQ regarding IDE, from both a workforce and operational context as required.
  • Ensure the unit’s compliance with Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) recommendations and wider Equality Act 2010 legislative practices, such as Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Establish a CTPHQ practice bank for IDE, with a view to expanding to the wider CTP Network, including templates, policy guidance and upskilling briefings for colleagues.
  • Progress CTPHQ’s internal ‘Inclusion Maturity Measurement’, driving business improvements at each stage of the colleague lifecycle model to position CTPHQ as an inclusive employer of choice and a centre of expertise for the CTP Network.
  • Drive the work of the CTPHQ IDE Board and its position within the wider People Priorities, managing required reporting cycles and ad-hoc projects when necessary.
  • Maintain a proactive engagement with Partner colleagues to ensure CTOC Inclusion remains both a building and cultural priority for those working there. This applies to both building accessibility and Affinity Groups support.
  • Work collaboratively with IDE leads across each of the Operational Command Units (OCUs) within the Met’s Specialist Operations Business Group, within which CTPHQ is hosted.
  • Support the National Co-ordinator for IDE in supporting regional units, as well as engagement with CONTEST EDI and collaboration with international partners.
  • Represent the experiences and interests of CTPHQ colleagues in the wider Met Culture, Diversity and Inclusion work, including the workforce-focused elements of the New Met for London Strategy.

Assessment

  • Candidates will be primarily assessed against the essential criteria at sift and interview.
  • The below competencies and behaviours will be considered throughout.
