SEMH Teaching Assistant
Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the skills and dedication to make a positive impact in a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)? We are seeking full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a team in Lewisham.
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham, London
Type: Full-Time
Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Start Date: September

Our partnered Secondary PRU in Lewisham focuses on helping students overcome challenges and achieve their potential. We are looking for compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our committed team and contribute to the success and wellbeing of our students.
SEMH Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both individually and in groups.
* Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
* Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success.
* Implement behaviour management strategies to support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
* Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
* Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
* Facilitate effective communication between students, parents, and staff.
* Support students during transitions, break times, and other non-classroom activities.
Skills Required / Qualifications:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
* Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and strategies to support students effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
* Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are advantageous.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Resilience and adaptability to respond to the dynamic needs of the school environment.
