Sous Chef

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our team in a bustling restaurant environment. Day time hours in a well established, popular café/ restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a passion working in busy kitchen with a flair for leadership in the kitchen.
Duties
* Managing the consistent daily production, preparation and presentation of all food to ensure a quality product for guests
* Managing and motivating kitchen staff through training and mentoring to help them be the best that they can be
* Overseeing food service by directing the presentation and portion control according to the Company standards
* Ordering and receipting deliveries, rotating stock, controlling and reporting wastage
* Managing the team to maintain high standards of hygiene and ensure all food safety processes and legalities are adhered to
* Keeping customer waiting time to a satisfactory level by supporting all areas as required
* Participating in menu development by working with the Head Chef and Food Buyer
Skills
* Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation and cooking
* Excellent leadership abilities to effectively supervise kitchen staff
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practice
* Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is advantageous
