Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at a meat focused gastro pub in the Thetford area. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the running of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring that all dishes are of the highest quality and presented to a high standard.
  • Run the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, taking charge of food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Cook on a section and prep a section on other days, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Assist with menu planning, food ordering, and inventory management.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a fresh food kitchen, with a passion for local and seasonal produce.
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to cook a range of dishes.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £32,000 - £37,000 per annum, plus overtime and tips.
  • Parking on site.
