The role

The Technical Operations Manager will work alongside the Service Operations Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the IT service delivered to the organisation.

This will include the identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives as well as the supervision, maintenance and enhancement of the organisation's IT infrastructure and and therefore requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic planning and team leadership skills.


Role responsibilities


Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee physical and virtual IT infrastructure ensuring optimal performance, reliability and scalability to meet the current and future needs of the organisation.
  • Proactive monitoring, regular maintenance, and troubleshooting systems and address issues promptly.
  • Implementing new technologies and/or upgrading existing systems to ensure employees are working with fit-for-purpose tools.
  • Implement preventive maintenance routines, regular audits, and robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.


Team Management and Development

  • Develop and lead a motivated team of individuals with the right technical expertise and a service-based approach.
  • Manage resource and ensure the team have the skills and tools needed to be successful.
  • Support the embedding of an automation-first, problem-focused approach to service delivery.


Process Ownership

  • Develop, implement, and oversee IT Technical processes and procedures and ensure services delivered are compliant.


Risk Management and Security

  • Develop and implement security processes and procedures, collaborating with InfoSec Teams where necessary.
  • Ensure the team are equipped to identify, assess and mitigate potential risks effectively.
  • Ensure the IT infrastructure and security practices are compliant with regulations



Skills and experience required

  • Seasoned Technical Operations experience, ideally in a large, global organisation. Regulated industries, a plus.
  • A range of experience and technical expertise across infrastructure, operating systems and software.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and experience of operating and managing IT security best practices
  • Demonstrable experience if working with ITIL concepts and frameworks, specifically incident and problem management.
  • Experience working towards ISO20000 accreditation highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to inspire, motivate and influence.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills, both technical and non-technical
