Director of Technical Operations

I am working with a leading iGaming company who are seeking a Director of Technical Operations to join their growing team. Reporting to the CTO as the Director of Technical Operations, you will implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the infrastructure supporting the business, covering DevOps, IT, Networking and Tier1 support for B2C and B2B. This individual will be a change agent in our transformation to building, inspiring and guiding to deliver best in class infrastructure working in a fast paced environment that requires frequent shifts in areas of focus.
Responsibilities:
- As a leader, you will play a key role within the Engineering organization as a thought leader and champion of best practices across the infrastructure.
- Manages and promotes strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Develops, implements, enforces, and improves upon tools and methods to assure new and existing products/services are supported, with a focus on continuous improvement and feedback to the business.
- Regular reporting across the business on the “Health of Tech Ops”
- Supervise the technical operations team to promote initiative, collaboration, and a proactive mentality in a fast-paced environment.
- Develops/mentors technical operations staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees.
- Engage in team sprints to ensure that product development can deliver.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers/Directors and the Development engineers to ensure delivery of high quality features.
- Evaluates and cross-trains to ensure the team is able to deliver the support the business needs 24 x 7.
- Works with cross-department leadership to ensure delivery of high quality infrastructure and services on schedule.
- Proactively identify areas for optimization.
- Process improvement and refinement of technical operations processes.
- Monitoring the cost of the infrastructure, proposing actions plans to ensure optimum use of resources and presenting the costs and plans to upper management.
- Planning for continued growth of the business always ensuring that the platform can always scale 2x the max current workload without intervention as load peaks.
- Working with 3rd party service providers to ensure accountability, value for money and performance to contract.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- The position requires strong communication skills and will include work across multiple teams and timezones.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience managing a Technical Operations team and experience building, growing, mentoring a technical operations team, with a focus on devops management.
- A proven track record of using Jira and working in a Sprint based environment.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority efforts in parallel while ensuring the highest quality.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Experience with GCP or other cloud hosting environments and deployment automation tools such as Jenkins.
