The Role 

Marketing Manager - Operations 

Location: Hybrid - Derby office twice a week

Reporting into the Head of Brand, you will act as the voice and champion of the stores and customers within the wider Digital/Marketing Team and business. You’ll understand the local catchments, the challenges and successes of each and every store. You’ll develop a strategy for each to drive awareness and market share and work with the wider team to provide insight and develop plans that deliver against these strategies. 

You’ll be responsible for the marketing materials and activation within our stores from signage to sales support and product/campaign promotion, looking at how we drive conversion, increase profit and drive advocacy. You’ll own the promotional/trading calendar driving initiatives that will improve sales and ensure stores are informed of all activity and prepared to deliver.

Your key objectives will be to maintain brand standards within our stores and support efforts to grow Motorpoint’s turnover, awareness, market share and key message recall in our existing and new store catchments.

What will you be getting up to?

  • Actively understand the local catchment areas for each of our existing and new stores, pulling data and insight together, seeking out trends and data, analysing competitor and store activity, talking to our colleagues to identify their challenges and opportunities to produce local store strategies
  • Provide the wider team with relevant information/strategies to activate local media BAU plans. Provide new insight to relevant parties as environments, stores and competition change
  • Drive sales performance in our focus stores, buy identifying our biggest opportunity stores, which mechanics and relevant activity to do so. This will include proposing, agreeing and implementing new conversion/promotional activation
  • Working with commercial and web development teams to ensure proposed activity is commercially viable and can be delivered across our platforms as well as marketing channels owners to develop and deploy media plans. Own the creative execution for each new conversion initiative
  • Create and maintain the annual tactical trading calendar, using all available data to propose tactical strategies to drive sales
  • Own customer footfall data, sourcing the right partner, ensuring implementation, maintenance and reporting linking to quote/sales performance
  • Responsible for all signage in-store and at supporting locations
  • Working with the ops team to ensure stores have all necessary marketing materials to support their sales processes and customer experience journeys from ‘how to shop’ materials, campaign POS, product displays and information, working with commercial, design and web to align across channels, bring this to life and deliver
  • Own product and proposition implementation and updates across the department ensuring all teams are aware of any required information and updates/launches happen on time
  • Produce weekly performance reports and insight to update the wider team on the performance of each store and the effectiveness of our marketing activity
  • Be a central point of contact for and build strong relationships with our store teams, keeping them fully informed of all local marketing activity, plans and performance
  • Produce quarterly reports to summarise the activity and performance for each store
  • Management of external agencies and suppliers
  • Protect and maintain the reputation and interests of the brand and the business

What do we need from you?

  • Local retail marketing - understanding the merits and restrictions of all marketing channels
  • Experience collating and interpreting data from various analytical platforms such as GA, facebook business, google search console, econometrics and company dashboards) turning this into insight and strategy
  • POS/signage experience from concept through to execution
  • Building relationships and influencing stakeholders
  • Briefing and producing artwork and creative
  • Experience in the automotive industry would be ideal but retail experience in another sector considered
  • Budget management
  • Agency/supplier management
  • Great proof reading, copy writing, time management and communication skills are essential

  • Willing to travel regularly within the UK to stores therefore a full driving licence and car is required
