As a pivotal member of the finance team the Finance Manager will support the team across a range of management and financial functions.


The role will have management responsibility for 3 transactional roles and an accountant and will lead the team day to day to ensure smooth running of the department, meeting internal and external deadlines.  


Responsibilities and Activities


  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual management accounts and financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Leading and managing the finance team ensuring financial records are up to date and accurate and deadlines are met
  • Analysis of financial data, spotting trends. Explaining variances to Finance director and stakeholders outside of finance.  
  • Actioning Month end tasks such as posting journals for accruals and prepayments
  • Preparing reports for group consolidation and providing associated analysis
  • Preparing and reviewing Monthly balance sheet pack
  • HMRC/Taxation related, including VAT Returns, Corp Tax (with advisors), analysis for Corp Tax.
  • Leading the planning and execution of the statutory and interim audits, including Group reporting requirements and YE audit adjustments
  • Ad hoc reporting eg National Statistics, Companies House
  • Providing cover for the team when required, this could include but not limited to, cash forecasting, P&L forecasting, P&L Analysis.
  • Other responsibilities as requested by the Finance Director

It is anticipated that this role will evolve as the business matures and develops, in which case the post holder is required to be flexible, adaptable and receptive to changes to ensure the role reflects the requirements of the business.


Education / Qualifications


Essential

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Manufacturing or Stock Experience
  • Team Management Experience


Desirable

  • Experience of SAGE 200 or SAP
  • Building Excel models for reporting/analysis.


Experience and Competence


Essential

  • Team leader, leading by example, reviewing work, identifying issues, setting priorities.
  • Fast learner of ERP systems and finance tasks
  • Self-Starter, actioning tasks without being asked.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookups)
  • An operational understanding of ERP platforms.
  • Ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with external and internal contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a professional attitude, approachable and willing to help.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
