We offer a wide range of roles from pilots to port operators, engineers to administration, HSEQ to HR and much more.The port has been at the heart of city for almost 900 years and our transformational South Harbour expansion will create new opportunities and prosperity for generations to come.WHAT WE NEEDReporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, the Civil Engineer will assist the Engineering department with planning, civil engineering and construction input, design planning and will draw up works for port and marine projects.In addition, the role will support hydrographic surveying of the port, contract preparation and on site supervision.Support the civil engineering input to the maintenance and development of port infrastructure.Contribute to department projects with consideration to the agreed project budgetary limits and timescales.Ensure that all plans, surveys, feasibility studies and designs are produced accurately, diligently and efficiently.Prepare drawings, specifications, conditions of contract and bill of quantities.Report as soon as possible any faults, damage or errors with existing infrastructure or works under construction.Prepare contract documents and ensure that all permits and CDM regulations are complied with.Oversee permits and permissions for in-house and 3rd Party engineering works within the port.Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reports, keeping accurate records of contracts and ensuring all files are kept in line with Engineering departments document policy.Ensure the Engineering team is kept up to date on project progress, updating relevant project documentation as required.Support the Hydrographic Surveyor with port survey activity.Liaise with and build positive working relationships with the Engineering Department, Operations, Marine, Commercial, Business Development, Finance and SHEQ teams and external service companies and suppliers.SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEBSc / BEng or similar in Civil Engineering or similar, Graduate member of ICE and working towards chartered status.An understanding of project planning, design management, cost estimating, bid specifications, contract management and construction supervision.Knowledge of technical writing and an awareness of current CDM regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.Strong planning and organisational skills and ableto work to deadlines.Excellent analytical, numerical, problem solving, planning and execution skills.Positive and flexible approach to work.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).SALARY AND HOURS36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Salary up to £50,000 per annum.HOW TO APPLYPlease download and complete theApplication formand theEqual Opportunities Monitoring Formthen attach.Deadline for applications: 27th June 2024
