If you’re an approachable, energetic leader who doesn’t mind mucking in with the kids and community in our small rural school then we have the job for you.

We’re looking for someone who embraces our diverse rural community, has a sense of humour and a family first focus. Your enthusiasm for education should be contagious as is your warmth, empathy and community spirit.

An effective communicator is key; we seek a principal with a high level of professionalism who leads their team from the front and supports their staff and students to succeed beyond their belief.

You'll embrace the unique challenges and opportunities of rural education, championing inclusivity and diversity. Your vision will guide strategic planning where you will be supported by a highly motivated BOT and community.

Our new principal will also:

  • be committed to building quality relationships with all stakeholders and having strong connections with whānau
  • have an in-depth knowledge of curriculum and assessment
  • honour Te Tiriti O Waitangi and celebrate the many cultures in our school
  • demonstrate exemplary administration and communication skills

Dorie School is a rural school in the Ashburton District (roll: 71 children) and four full time teachers. Our school boasts four modern classrooms and an excellent teaching team who are leading the way in structured literacy.

Our school is just 25 minutes from Ashburton, 1 hour from Christchurch and for outdoor enthusiasts, skiing at Mt Hutt is less than an hour away.
