Canterbury Kent, United Kingdom Cashmere High School Full time

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Principal

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts

Cashmere High School is one of New Zealand’s leading state co-educational secondary schools. Based in Christchurch, the school has an enviable reputation for academic success with a rich offering in music, the performing arts and sports; and a commitment to supporting Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The school is part of a loyal and connected community with over 90% of in-zone enrolments and a current roll of 2,345.

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary Principal to lead a school that is well-positioned for ongoing success with a highly talented, collaborative, and forward-thinking senior leadership team.

Maintaining an outstanding reputation will be a key focus for this role. Integral to this will be the ability to anticipate the school’s infrastructural and educational needs as the demands of a growing roll continue. The Principal will also work closely with the school’s charitable Foundation and Alumni to ensure its long-term initiatives around academic and co-curricular achievement are supported and enhanced.

The Board is ideally seeking an experienced and charismatic Principal with a strong track record of leading academic excellence in a state secondary school; with strengths in engaging with students, staff and the community and enhancing positive school-community relationships.

Exceptional emerging Principals will be considered where there are strong leadership track records in similar contexts.

Candidates will have:

  • A positive and empowering, collaborative leadership style and strengths in leading high-performing teams.
  • A track record of successful campus development managing a range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to provide visionary educational leadership.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership in the learning environment.
  • Experience with engaging Alumni and cultivating fundraising support.
  • A continuous improvement mindset around teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to communities of learning (CoL), supporting Te Mana Raupō, the local CoL.
