Our highly respected and valued client is looking for a Buyer to report directly to the Purchasing Manager.
Key responsibilities for this position include overseeing the procurement of specific material commodities and suppliers, aligning with the sourcing strategy goals, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
* Responsible for establishing strategic sources that meet objectives that may include NPI, solicitations/quotations, negotiations, long-term agreements, supplier development, problem resolution, risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Government material purchases and associated documentation shall be executed in compliance to regulations.
* Support procurement team members to ensure on-time delivery, change in schedule priorities, or alternative planning needs.
* Ensure acceptable level of supplier quality performance based on established requirements, action plans, and supplier evaluations with key sources.
* Responsibility extends to supporting as a back-up to MRO purchases.
* May be requested to provide support and assistance in other commodities and/or sites not part of direct responsibility.
Background and Skills
Essential
* Minimum 3 years professional experience in Sourcing or Procurement
* CIPS qualification is desirable.
* High level of capability to work independently.
* Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
* Highly organised individual that possess strategic and tactical skills in a demanding environment
* High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
* Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
* Knowledge of computer software applications (ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft office), interpreting and management of complex contracts
* Negotiations skills
* Ability to prioritise assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time.
* Ability to travel 10% of the time, including international travel as required.
* Ability to work in a cross-functional, team-oriented atmosphere
Desirable
* Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge of materials management. Capable of adequate investigation and interpreting market data. Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents. Knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes.
