We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hackney to assist with the appointment of a Disability Benefits Officer on a 2.5month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.81 25.62 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • In this role you will predominantly be supporting disabled people (or households with a disabled person) to access a full range of welfare benefits discretionary support reductions and exemptions.
  • Conduct full benefits checks and initial assessments to establish likely eligibility and advise residents on whether to make a claim the impact on other income and the likely process.
  • Support residents with completing and submitting new applications for disability benefits including helping with collating supporting evidence.
  • Support residents to appeal decisions where you think the decision may be overturned.
  • Support residents to tribunal stage where necessary including acting as representative on the residents behalf

Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of welfare benefits and willing to learn and develop a full working knowledge of law practice and guidance relating to: Personal Independence Payments Disability Living Allowance and Severe Disability Premium.
  • Able to advocate for the rights of clients to receive the financial mental physical and emotional support that they need.
