We currently have an opportunity for a Crematorium General Assistant to join our team at Houndwood Crematorium. As a General Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the day to day operations within the crematorium. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a respectful and dignified environment while providing essential assistance to our staff and families.

Here is what a typical day could look like for you:
As a Crematorium General Assistant you will provide essential support and assistance in various aspects of crematorium operations, this will include..
- To undertake the full range of gardening, cemetery and horticultural tasks
- Responsible for opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room
- maintain the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices
- Construct, place, fix memorials and subsequently maintain to the highest standard
- To operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines.
- Ensure the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium.
- Ensure the highest standards of house keeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms
- Prepares chapels for each service considering client needs including varying religious requirements.
- Conduct witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains
- Ensuring the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service

This role will suit someone who:
- Holds 2+ years experience in a customer service environment.
- High attention to detail is essential.
- Proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone and via email.
- Ability to successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
- Computer literate in addition to experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy.
