In-house Bookkeeper - Designer Fashion Business

Job Responsibilities

  • Record purchase invoices in the accounting software, ensuring that all costs are correctly allocated.
  • Be a point of contact for communication with suppliers, process payments, including internationally.
  • Preparation of VAT Returns.
  • Ensure all payments are made in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Petty cash reconciliation.
  • Keep all paperwork and computer systems organised
  • Ongoing work to improve and streamline the bookkeeping system and procedures in line with the growth of the company.
  • Review timesheets, assist with payroll and the maintenance of staff records.
  • Assist with maintenance and reconciliation of the company bank accounts.
  • Assist with maintenance and reconciliation of the sales ledger.
  • Manage and oversee the company's credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices and minimising bad debts.
  • Monitor customer accounts for delayed payments and other irregularities, taking necessary actions such as sending reminders, making followup calls, and initiating legal procedures if necessary.
  • Assess and review the creditworthiness of new customers, setting up credit limits and terms based on financial analysis.
  • Work closely with the sales and relevant departments to resolve any disputes or discrepancies related to invoicing and payments.
  • Generate and provide regular reports on aged debtors, highlighting any potential issues to management.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the credit control process to enhance efficiency and reduce the risk of bad debts.
  • Participate in regular meetings with management to discuss the status of accounts receivables and any potential credit risks.
