JOB PURPOSE


To provide technical assurance across the full spectrum of research and teaching activities by managing the practical implementation of compliance with all relevant legislation in the laboratory environment.

To ensure good practice through the development of supporting documentation, and training and awareness programmes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Support the statutory compliance activities through planning, developing, and implementing a range of compliance projects across various disciplines, e.g., hazard management systems, chemical inventories, and asset management databases, including all elements of asset management, and documentation within identified SEM Departments.


Contribute to excellent health and safety compliance, by ensuring that health and safety considerations are embedded in all research and teaching activities in a consistent way across relevant Departments.


Support the relevant Technical Services teams with the day to day (infrastructure) functions of the department and deputise for the Technical Services Managers on Compliance matters when requested.


The post holder will be responsible for providing technical assurance to the departments across the full spectrum of research and teaching activities by managing the practical implementation of all relevant legislation in the laboratory environment.

This extends to compliance with statutory requirements for example for pressure systems (gas), local exhaust ventilation (LEVs
- fume hoods), water hygiene and disposal of hazardous waste.
