As part of Oxfordshire NHS Community Podiatry Service to act as a qualified podiatrist with HCPC registration to provide reflective assessment, diagnosis and treatment for conditions of the foot, ankle and related structures to improve mobility, reduce pain and maintain tissue viability of patients eligible
for NHS podiatry in Oxfordshire.

To assess, diagnose and manage the on-going primary care of patients eligible for NHS podiatry in Oxfordshire:

  • Those with 'at risk' foot health status (deficiencies in circulatory and/or neurological supply and reduced tissue viability Patients with painful gait anomalies (through MSK/biomechanical assessment and the prescription of appropriate orthoses)
  • Patients with toe nail pathology (through the use of local anaesthetic and toenail surgery).
  • To manage an identified caseload of patients and undertake all associated communication and liaison with other health care professionals.
  • Work within a team and develop professional links across care pathways.
  • Develop communication skills with a wide range of carers, health and social care professionals to ensure holistic and 'joined up' care. Understand the principles of negotiating care with patients and
professionals to achieve the most effective outcomes desired by the patient.

  • To maintain high quality clinical skills and ensure own continuing professional development in line with local and national guidelines.
  • To adhere to departmental, Trust and HCPC objectives, policies and guidelines
  • To work under direct and indirect support and guidance from Band 6 and 7 clinical colleagues.
  • Occasional Lone Working may be required to adhere to Trust Lone Working guidelines.
