Are you an experienced communications and and engagement professional ready for your next step? Do you have experience of complex partnership working with multiple agencies and stakeholders, preferably with experience of large capital projects and developments?

We have a 8a Head of Communications role at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Communications, for an initial two-year fixed term.

The role requires high levels of confidence, aptitude and diplomacy, as well as exceptional professional skills and expertise, hopefully gained in the public sector.

You will be a self-motivated, responsive, energetic person with significant experience working on deadline-driven major projects and making things happen at pace.

Audiences for your work will involve patients, carers, families, partner organisations, residents in the communities we serve, other local NHS organisations, and the public.

You will be technically proficient with web and social media.

Must be able to travel (own car), and be willing to work flexibly as some stakeholder engagement may happen outside of 9-5 and weekdays.

  • To support the Associate Director of Communications in the development and delivery of communications and engagement strategies for Oxford Health NHSFT and their implementation. To be responsible for both internal and external communications; stakeholder engagement; media management and PR; and liaison with key external partners. To ensure the Trust is meeting statutory duties in relation to the engagement of patients, carers and the public with our services.
  • To be responsible for effective communication and engagement activities to support the business of Oxford Health across corporate and operational functions.
  • To manage proactive and reactive media issues including liaising with journalists, senior managers within Oxford Health NHS FT, preparing statements and briefings and media reporting. This includes managing prompt responses, clear record keeping of media enquiries and regular briefings to relevant staff members
  • To lead the development and implementation of proactive engagement strategies around new capital developments on Trust sites
  • To provide communications and engagement advice to colleagues to ensure that all statutory duties within these areas are complied with (NHS Act 2006, NHS LA standards, CQC)
  • To facilitate directorates' engagement activities and to implement the Trust wide engagement model, this may include facilitating stakeholder groups
  • To act as a spokesperson for the trust, represent the Trust at external meetings and brief others to do the same
