What you'll be responsible for:

  • Manage the waiting list of Consultant Surgeons within specialties operating at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, in accordance with Government Access standards and Trust's Patient Access Policy
  • Responsible for organising admissions and associated preoperative assessment clinics and theatre lists. Play a central role within these services and required to work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and general public
  • Exercise initiative and use independent judgment and analysis to book patients, dependent on their clinical needs and agreed template case mix
  • To manage the waiting list of Consultant Surgeons using PAS and other relevant electronic booking system, in accordance with PAH Patient Access Policy and to achieve government waiting time standard
  • To coordinate surgeons' theatre lists, including selecting appropriate case mix in clinical/chronological order and with appropriate attention to the medical requirements for the procedures
  • This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience._

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all
levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office
  • Experience and knowledge of PAS and equivalent electronic booking system
  • Knowledge of COSMIC (desirable)
  • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive data
  • NHS experience (desirable)
