About The Role


This is rare and exciting opportunity to be part of our well established Safeguarding and Review Team as an Independent Reviewing Officer.


In this role, you'll be passionate about representing the voices of Looked After Children and providing independent scrutiny to their care plans.


In this role you will be expected to:

  • Chair Looked After Reviews and make recommendations for care plans.
  • Quality Assure practice and work of social workers and other professionals.
  • Work with young people, parents and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Advocate and challenge where necessary in a child or young person's best interests.
  • Have a detailed legal and practice knowledge to make decisions and recommendations.
There are opportunities to develop leadership skills and engage a wide variety of activities in the service.

About The Team You'll Be Working In


The Safeguarding and Review Team are a well established team of autonomous practitioners who are driven by a passion to represent Looked After Children in London Borough of Hounslow.


The team provide independent oversight of care plans and support care experienced children and young people to ensure their voice is heard and their wishes and feelings represented.


There is a requirement for travel as the team is passionate about seeing children and young people face to face.

You will be reporting to the Safeguarding, Review and Quality Assurance Manager.

About You

  • A qualified and registered social worker with Social Work England.
  • You will be passionate about children and young people.
  • You will be an experienced practitioner with management experience and with an in depth knowledge of social work practice and legislation.
  • You will be selfdriven and autonomous in your practice with an ability to selfmanage and meet deadlines.
  • You will be creative and resourceful with an ability to listen to the voices of children and young people and advocate for them to achieve positive outcomes.
  • You will have experience in challenging professionals and quality assuring practice.
