The Modern Languages Teaching Centre (MLTC) seeks to appoint two part time, fixed term Teaching Associates in Italian who will be responsible who will be responsible for convening and delivering Italian language modules from beginners' to advanced levels, developing and updating materials as appropriate and contributing to the academic activities of the MLTC as a whole.
You will have C2 or near C2 proficiency in Italian with knowledge of current affairs and cultural life in Italian-speaking countries, a good track record in teaching the language in higher education for general and possibly specific purposes, and experience of acting as module leader.
You will have a degree involving Italian (or equivalent experience), ideally a teaching qualification, and a strong commitment to professional development and the delivery of a high-quality, innovative language-learning experience to students.
This is a unique opportunity to join a highly motivated team of over forty academic and Professional Services professionals in a supportive environment.
The Modern Languages Teaching Centre is at the forefront of the University's Languages for All programme, an initiative launched in 2012 to sustain the University's employability and internationalisation strategic agenda, and we currently deliver specialist and non-specialist language training in thirteen languages to over 2,000 students each year, undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as staff and members of the local community.
Italian is taught from absolute beginner to Higher Advanced levels to non-specialists as well as specialists on University's successful BA in Modern Languages and Cultures programme.
