Main Duties of the JobAs a Physician Associate, you will provide a PA service on our specialist Gastroenterology ward. You will participate in daily consultant-led board and ward rounds, perform ward-based duties as a core member of the ward multidisciplinary team, and ensure continuity of care. You will also receive training to deliver a ward discharge clinic and have the opportunity to develop specialist skills, such as performing endoscopy procedures, fibroscans, and ascitic taps.

About UsThe Gastroenterology inpatient service is provided by a team of 20+ Consultant Gastroenterologists, supported by medical trainees and specialist nurses. You will be based at the Northern General Hospital, in the Robert Hadfield building, which accommodates inpatient care in a modern and comfortable setting.
Person Specification- Essential criteria:
- BA/BS Degree prior to undertaking PA program at 2:2 level or above
- PG Dip in Physician Associate Studies or equivalent from a UK training programme
- Current and valid certification or re-certification by the Physician Associate National Examination
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at RCP, which includes registration on the UK PA Register (PA Managed Voluntary Register)
- Current and valid certification with the National Commission on Certification for Physician Associates (NCCPA) for US-trained candidates
- Registration with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for Physician Associates for US-trained candidates
- Desirable criteria:
- Life support certification e.g. ILS or ALS
- Higher Degree
