Job summary

This position is responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high frequency sound waves for patients of all ages and maintaining safety at all times.

Primary duties and responsibilities
Performs ultrasound studies (i.e., obstetrical, abdominal, retroperitoneal, paediatric and vascular)
Consults with physician regarding patients medical history and the selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis
Prepares patient for exam and explains the procedure
Performs ultrasound exam, maintains appropriate records and completes financial information for each study
Assists radiologists with invasive exams and related procedures requiring sterile technique
Performs checks on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning of equipment and notifies clinical engineers of any equipment malfunctions
Ensures that exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies
Schedules emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures
Monitors all appointments scheduled for ultrasound exams
Assists with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents
Assists in new investigational techniques, procedures and equipment
Experience requirements
A and B. Minimum of two (2) years post graduate experience in ultrasound in an acute care hospital, including doppler, obstetrics/gynecology and abdominal sonography (of which at least two (2) years experience is as a senior ultrasound radiographer in an acute care hospital) is required
C. Minimum of four (4) years post graduate experience in ultrasound in an acute care hospital, including doppler, obstetrics/gynecology and abdominal sonography
Ability to identify and resolve problems using critical thinking and decision-making skills
Strong attention to detail to interpret clinical data for the establishment and implementation of appropriate patient treatment
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to speak and write in English is required
Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
Education requirements
Bachelors degree in Radiography plus a program certificate in Sonography (minimum one (1) year syllabus)
Bachelors degree in Sonography accredited program (minimum three (3) year syllabus
Associates degree in Sonography (minimum two (2) year syllabus) and registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist, UK-HPC, Australian Sonographer accreditation Registry, Ireland Department of Health and Children, New Zealand

Australian Society for ultrasound in Medicine, South African Health Professional Council (as Radiographer)
Current national license is required
Masters degree in Medical Imaging or relevant clinical field is preferred (will reduce one (1) year from the required years of experience

Repatriation:
At conclusion of assignment, flight paid for caregiver and eligible dependants, as per your organizational level, to return home.

End of Service Benefit:
This is calculated as one-month basic salary (approximately 50% of monthly gross salary) for each year of service.
