This role will sit within Research FIRST; delivered through Birmingham Health Partners (BHP) and located within the Institute of Translational Medicine (ITM), Research FIRST provides a flexible and innovate approach to supporting non-CTIMP research and other projects (for example, Clinical Audits, Service Evaluations).

The team work with colleagues across the Health Partners network.

Role Summary


This exciting post is an opportunity for an experience study co-ordinator to lead and manage a portfolio of research projects according to predefined standards, policies, procedures, frameworks and legislation, ensuring appropriate records are kept.

This is an interesting and varied role, with the opportunity to work on a range of different studies as well as providing management of the Research FIRST Fully Managed Projects workstream.


Main Duties

  • Keep up to date with the current research literature, bringing ideas for innovative research to the Clinical Research Lead.
  • Write literature reviews and publish approaches to improving trial methodology.
  • Keep up to date with changes in trial methodology, regulatory issues and new legislation. Help develop plans for their implementation at team level and for the trial, including drafting and implementing procedures.
  • Obtain appropriate regulatory and ethical approval for individual studies.
