Are you looking for the opportunity to make a real difference to children's lives? Are you patient, caring and able to adjust to situations quickly? If so, we're currently recruiting a permanent Teaching Assistant to support with our special needs children, predominately but not exclusively in the ARMS unit.

The role will primarily be learning support for children with moderate or complex learning needs and/or speech, language and communication difficulties.

The part-time role is based on being available for the time when the children are in school (Monday to Friday 8.40am - 3.20pm with 30 mins unpaid for lunch).


We are looking for:

  • An experienced and nurturing Teaching Assistant with a commitment to ensuring our children's health and wellbeing are promoted and developed alongside their learning.
  • A reflective practitioner, constantly looking to improve their practice.
  • A knowledgeable person who has a good understanding of child development in Early Years and Key Stage 1, as well as recent training in working with children with SEND.
  • A person who is able to support teaching and learning using visual aids, overlearning and supporting resources appropriate to the needs of the children.
  • Someone able to deal with everchanging needs of the children and able to perform well under pressure when working with a group of children with differing needs.
  • Someone able to support children with special needs across the whole school, offering suggestions and interventions for those children who may not have an EHCP.
  • Someone that goes above and beyond for the children in their care as well as the people they work alongside.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to attend meetings with SEND professionals and parents to ensure the best outcomes for children with SEND.
  • Commitment to working in partnership with parents and the community.
