Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Primary School

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an outstanding Primary School in the Gateshead area. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies to promote pupil progress
  • Prepare resources for learning activities and lessons
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required
  • Liaise with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress as required
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
  • A recognised Childcare-based qualification (although not essential)
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils
