NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.


What we'll need you to bring:

  • SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus experience as a medical secretary
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
  • Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
  • Advanced audio typing skills
  • Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure

It would be great if you also have:

  • NHS experience as a medical secretary or Band 3 or 4 administration
  • Inpatient and outpatient scheduling experience
  • Knowledge of waiting times and treatment times guarantees
  • Working knowledge of Opera theatre system
  • Milan reports
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.

This role will be based in Medical Department within University Hospital Hairmyres.
