A vacancy has arisen within the Specialist Medicine Business Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital for Pathway Co-ordinator (Medical Secretary) within the Renal Unit.


As a Pathway Co-ordinator, you will have an eye for detail, a strong team working ethic and be passionate about providing excellent service for our patients.


The post holder will be required to provide an efficient Medical Secretarial service to the consultants and their team in respect of NHS work.

To work flexibly with or alongside medical secretarial staff, consultants and other teams when required.

You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication skills. Confidentiality, the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively and a willingness to learn are essential.


Working for a Team of Consultants, you will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication & problem-solving skills.

You will require high levels of tact, diplomacy with the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively to enable day to day management in a fast-paced environment.

You will need to have keyboard skills, ability to work well in a team and have a pleasant disposition.

  • Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An understanding of the 18week RTT process
  • Knowledge and familiarisation of medical terminology
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of electronic patient record systems, such as CITO and Lorenzo
  • Accurate typing skills
  • Audio typing experience
  • Intermittent cover of reception desk in times of sickness, annual leave etc.
  • Diary management and taking minutes of meetings when required
All relevant training will be provided.
