We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) Consultant Psychiatrist to join our newly established 8-bedded Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) dedicated to female patients. This role is part of a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of care for adult mental health patients by providing a safe and dignified environment.
The Enhanced Care Unit is designed to cater to female patients requiring a higher level of support and security than what is typically available in acute mental health wards. This facility aims to streamline the acute service delivery pathway, ensuring a maximum length of stay of under 8 weeks while achieving an average length of stay between 39 and 48 days.
This position offers a 30% Recruitment and Retention Premium (RRP), calculated from the base of the National Consultant pay scale. Additionally, a relocation package of £8000 is available, subject to specific criteria.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement this innovative service for Derbyshire. You will work closely with senior leadership to establish the operational framework, staffing model, and clinical pathways necessary for effective service delivery.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the department, providing clinical guidance to their team and collaborating with The Working Age Adult Acute Directorate to support ongoing service enhancements.
Adopting a people-first approach, you will exemplify leadership within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring the highest clinical standards are maintained. Together with the Ward Manager, you will ensure that the team delivers safe and effective therapeutic care within a newly designed ward environment.
The unit will cater to patients with complex mental health needs, providing intensive treatment and support in a secure setting conducive to recovery. You will lead the team in fostering an environment that respects and acknowledges the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and strengths of our service users, thereby promoting their recovery journey.
