  • Collaborate in the technical team to ensure that incoming and outgoing specifications meet the needs of both internal and external customers, are safe, and comply with legal requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a strong Quality System that adheres to legal standards and aligns with customer Codes of Practice and Guidelines.
  • Manage expenses within the allocated budget and obtain approval from the budget holder.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of the Technical Department, managing day-to-day operations such as QMS, HACCP, Legislation, Customer Specifications, and Raw Material Specifications.
  • Generate and interpret technical KPIs, including non-conformance, customer complaints, and microbiological performance.
  • Aid in developing and maintaining change management processes and communicating them to relevant parties.
  • Manage customer interactions efficiently, both internally and externally, related to specifications and artwork.
  • Participate in customer audits and visits, focusing on specifications, artwork, and artwork critical path management.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to gather necessary information and monitor their performance as part of the vendor rating process.
  • Collaborate with the technical management team to ensure compliance with current standards, COP, and legislation.
  • Work with the site team to implement changes associated with launches, delists, and promotional activities.
  • Maintain department trackers, such as Spec Log, to identify missing information and report issues.
  • Support the technical team as needed, including covering different tasks and participating in projects.
  • Prioritize safety at work and contribute to continuous improvement in health and safety measures.
  • Keep systems updated with product information, factory specifications, and maintain document control.
  • Create product information and technical databases to ensure compliance and track nutritional trends and customer complaints.
  • Conduct investigations and respond to customer complaints with findings.
  • Update technical risk assessments related to raw materials, allergens, and integrity.
Required Experience:
  • Formal qualification to HND standard or above in Food Technology or a related field.
  • Experience in a chilled food manufacturing environment, preferably ready meals.
  • Previous experience working with major retailers.
  • Knowledge of food legislation, specifically legal labeling requirements.
  • Understanding of retail labeling standards and critical path management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role within the retail sector.
  • Proficiency in PC skills.
