We are delighted to announce that we are now recruiting for activity instructors at the Galloway Activity Centre for the
2023 Season
We offer a range of different roles for the upcoming season. From activity sessions to tuition there is a role for everyone, whether you have experience or not. The important things are your polite, enthusiastic, outgoing and have a willingness to learn.

There are numerous activities that we run including paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, climbing, so working at the Galloway activity centre will give you a chance to hone your skills whilst giving you plenty of variety.


We also run a placement scheme that is open to anyone looking for an entrance into the industry our paid work placement scheme has seen past graduates move on to management and chief instructor roles throughout the world.

The amount of knowledge, experience, and confidence you will gain will put you light years ahead of your peers and you won't look back.

This scheme runs from May-September, it's full on and you'll be expected to work hard but you will gain so much out of it and finish with a National Governing Body instructional qualification and a job for the summer.


Responsibilities:

  • Putting safety first
  • Planning, preparation, and delivery of highquality activities and/or training in line with Safety Management Procedures and Best Practice
  • Delivery of activities for which you hold the appropriate qualifications, or for which you have been inhouse assessed, and assisting alongside staff of a relevant level of qualification or experience
  • Promoting and enabling social development opportunities
  • Be enthusiastic and selfmotivated whilst delivering a high level of customer service
  • Support the delivery of staff training and inhouse activity sign off in line with best practice
  • Support product and business development activities
  • Active maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure the ongoing safety of clients and staff
  • Contribute towards the development of physical resources (buildings, land, and equipment as appropriate)

Requirements:

  • A passion for delivering outdoor adventure and education
  • High level of customer service
  • Flexible approach to working hours and able to work offsite if required
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Enthusiasm
  • A confident and engaging personality who loves finding the joy in sharing your knowledge with others
  • Adores being active in the outdoors, with a passion for sport & leisure.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working/volunteering with children, such as being involved with scouts/guides/cadet/school groups, coaching sports teams, or helping at youth groups or clubs.

Desirables:

  • Experience in delivering outdoor activities
  • National governing body awards, e.g. Archery GB, RYA Safety Boat, Dingy or Windsurf Instructor
  • Personal supporting knowledge of a broad range of outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Outdoor First Aid Qualification
  • Continuing personal participation in outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Experience of youth work or working with emotional, learning and behavioural difficulties
  • Proven ability to manage challenging situations and leadership and influencing skills
  • Full UK driving licence with D1 or +E entitlement
