You will have a background, in administration or customer service, a good telephone manner and have attention to detail. You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our services. Routinely on the same site, or wider if you would welcome that to further your experiences.

Interviews will be held at Royal Derby Hospital.

We have 3 posts available - 30 hours per week.

Posts may be based at the Royal Derby Hospital or the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.


4 days x 7.5 hours (Monday to Saturday, exact days of work to be agreed upon appointment, some flexibility will be required).

Between the hours of 08:00- 18:00

  • Outpatient reception duties, dealing with patient queries facetoface or by telephone, booking appointments for outpatients attending clinics, liaising with staff/patients in a courteous
and professional manner.

  • Answering the telephone, actioning patient queries, taking telephone messages and relaying/transferring them to the appropriate person/department.
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail, paper and/or electronic.
  • Filing paper and/or electronic
  • Photocopying/Scanning
  • Accurate data entry and interpretation of Trust databases and systems, including our patient administration system, Lorenzo and the NHS eReferral Service (eRS)
  • To be aware when to refer a query/issue onwards for resolution, escalating as necessary
  • Undertake clerical duties in a professional, timely manner, ensuring deadlines are met, prioritising work and problem solving on a regular basis to achieve the best outcome.
  • Alert the team to potential workload issues to agree actions and ensure negative outcomes are minimised.
  • Requirement for light physical work in the movement of patients' case notes.
