Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the healthcare administrative assistant include:

  • Delivering a proficient audio and copy typing service for healthcare professionals as needed, ensuring accuracy in the documentation of letters, reports, and patient referrals.
  • Regularly monitoring dictation systems for new audio files.
  • Managing task lists to track new referrals and pending results or reports.
  • Processing incoming correspondence and managing workflow efficiently.
  • Handling electronic referral system tasks, including addressing rejections and redirections, while responding to related inquiries from patients and healthcare facilities.
  • Ensuring all patient communications with hospitals include necessary identifiers.
  • Facilitating effective communication by managing incoming and outgoing phone calls, taking messages, and addressing inquiries appropriately.
  • Upholding confidentiality and privacy standards at all times.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to embrace new responsibilities.
  • Providing additional support during staff absences due to holidays or illness.

Chapel Street Medical Practice is a progressive and welcoming healthcare facility, serving a diverse patient population. Our team consists of a collaborative group of partners and dedicated staff, including general practitioners, nurses, and administrative personnel.

Additional Duties

In addition to the core responsibilities, the healthcare administrative assistant may be required to:

  • Participate in audits as directed.
  • Provide support to the administrative team during periods of absence.
  • Undertake any other tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of GCSE level education or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Relevant qualifications in business administration or medical terminology.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting as an administrative assistant.
