Due to the diverse range of procedures undertaken, the successful candidate will be uniquely specialised in a field of Radiology rarely encountered in the UK.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • be the clinical radiography lead within IC working within an agreed scope of work, and within a specialist MDT.
  • supervise work of qualified radiographer trainees, radiography students and other students/ staff, acting as clinical mentor and assessor.
  • organise workload between three interventional suites according to skill mix.
  • construct different staff rotas ensuring fairness, and appropriate staff skill mix.
  • liaise with multi-disciplinary medical and surgical specialists to aid inpatient referrals.
  • liaise directly with equipment manufacturers to facilitate repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • actively participate in personnel management, including performance appraisal, professional development, conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures.
  • to contribute to the Health Board's Service Development plans and actively participate in CPD, audit and departmental research activities.
  • to act as a deputy to the band 8a Superintendent within the clinical areas, acting up when required.
Main duties of the job Applications are invited from suitable band 6 candidates for the post of Team Leader Clinical Radiographer to work within the busy Radiology Directorate of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The band 7 radiographer post will be based in University Hospital of Wales (UHW).

The successful post holder will be an extremely competent, confident and highly skilled clinical expert, and, working closely with the band 8a Superintendent, will have delegated responsibility for the organisation, planning and management of the delivery of comprehensive and effective interventional radiography imaging services. Therefore, although comprehensive equipment training will be provided, previous experience within Interventional Radiology is essential.
