Your role:

Pride in London seeks an experienced individual to join the Operations Team as Head of Event Control.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing Pride's event control room operations during the one day Pride event.

This involves working closely with stakeholders, partners, and service providers on the day of the event to ensure smooth coordination between all parties.

Leading up to Pride, you will also work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to coordinate control room logistics, train the team, and liaise with relevant agencies.


Your responsibilities:

Responsibilities Prior to Pride Saturday:

  • Run training session for ontheday radio users
  • Conduct training for control room volunteers
  • Recruit experienced volunteer operatives for the control room
  • Provide input and feedback into event management plan written by the Event Production Company, including health and safety plans
  • Review event site plans and safety procedures
  • Conduct internal Table-Top Exercise
Other duties as outlined in requirements and commitment section

Responsibilities During Event Control Room Operations:

  • Set up the control room, liaising with the Director of Operations & Event Planning and our Production Company regarding equipment needs
  • Provide regular status updates to Pride in London's Gold Command, Silver Command and Communications Director, reporting major incidents
  • Maintain strong working relationships with agencies and contractors in control room
  • Oversee the closure of the control room after event

Responsibilities Post Pride:

  • Assist the Director of Operations & Event in leading the debrief process for the Operations team
  • Write handover documents for future planning

What you'll bring to the role

  • Leadership skills to effectively manage the control room team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and external partners
  • Problemsolving skills to quickly assess situations and respond appropriately
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make clear decisions
  • Experience in training and managing teams of volunteers
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fastpaced environment
  • Attention to detail to identify issues and risks
  • Knowledge of health and safety best practices
  • Experience with largescale events and operations management
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively
  • Proficiency with computers and technical equipment
  • Experience using twoway radios and radio protocol
  • Knowledge of Chronsoft or similar event logging software
  • Previous control experience with the emergency services or large scale events a plus
