Welcome to our job opportunity as a Rehabilitation Officer for the Visual Impairment (Sensory) Team. Join our friendly and supportive team to empower individuals with sensory impairments in Powys. This is a 24-hours per week position covering the south of the county, based in one of our local offices.

About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated individual who can provide valuable support by giving advice on:

  • Daily tasks like cooking, making hot drinks, and measuring.
  • Assisting with disorientation challenges related to poor sight.
  • Recommendations on specialist aids and equipment.

Your responsibilities:

As a Rehabilitation Officer, your tasks will involve teaching individuals various skills such as:

  • Guiding individuals or using mobility aids.
  • Utilizing communication tools like Braille and specialized software.
  • Enhancing everyday task abilities.
  • Offering advice on magnification, lighting, and color contrast.
  • Adjusting household equipment for easier use.
  • Assisting with registration for visually impaired individuals.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and organizations.
  • Providing guidance and support.

In addition, you will direct individuals to resources related to:

  • Employment and training.
  • Benefit information.
  • Housing services.
  • Supportive organizations and equipment providers.
  • Local and national resources.
