Position: Technical Support Officer

Location: Belfast

Duration: Temporary

Rate of Pay: £16.12 per hour

Hours of Work: 42 hours per week (shift work)

Duties include:

  • To ensure public and animal health protection by conducting checks in compliance with UK, NI, and EU laws.
  • To manage general Port Health emails and take necessary actions, such as calling containers for inspection and making decisions on container release or escalation to an EHO.
  • To handle phone calls from various parties and address inquiries appropriately, redirecting to EHOs or other entities as needed.
  • Under EHO supervision, code manifests for arriving vessels at PoB, impose holds on containers for checks, and identify those needing further verification.
  • To conduct checks on product manifests and IDs under EHO guidance, report irregularities, and follow up with agents or importers for more details if necessary.

Essential Criteria:

  • Must have a full driving license valid in Northern Ireland and access to a vehicle for official use, or alternative transportation for fulfilling job requirements.
  • Hold a third-level qualification in relevant fields like food science, food technology, business/retail management, logistics, supply chain management, or quality management.
